I hope that you all are enjoying the holiday season with love and being loved, and are staying safe and healthy. What else is there?
There is one more, less significant thing, that I wanted to relay to y’all. Lori from Armadillo Art & Craft in Belle Meade, NJ contacted me to say that their supply of the primer is sold out, but for one can, until March. You have run the store! This is a good thing. Maybe we will see this show up more often now as an alternative to other oil based primers on the market. Way to go!
From Lori…
“…They are welcome to contact me at Armadillo Art & Craft lori@armadilloart.com or tel. 908-874-3315 x 13. If you send a correction, please let them know that due to the run on them (thanks to you!) we are out of stock until our next shipment from Australia in March 2024. (actually, there is 1 lonely can left ).” - Lori Villalonga
FYI… Something that I’ve noticed about my oils lately, and I’m guessing it might be due to the colder temperatures and higher humidity, but I am having to use a drier to get the paint to set, at least to a tacky state, even by the next day. I’m using Liquin (for thinner applications) and Galkyd Gel for textural strokes. Galkyd is also an alternative, but I prefer Liquin for the way it handles, Galkyd is too thin for my use. Liquin has been a problem for me in the past, a cause of migraines, so I only use a little bit at a time. And I don’t leave it in the studio air space, without a fan on, to disperse the fumes. Liquin gives me some time to work the paint, and then it dries. Makes me happy! :-)
Happy New Year!
Keep your brushes wet,
Marc
A couple of gouache field studies from the end of November.
Beautiful Gouache studies!!!
If you use rosemary synthetic brushes and also use Liquin or the Gamblin gel does it make the brushes degrade faster? I work for 3-4 hours at a stretch so the Liquin or gel can potential dry out the brushes more easily, leaving residue. Should I be concerned? Is there a remedy? Shoukd I periodically dip my brush in walnut or canola oil to suck out the liquin or other medium. Thank you in advance.
