Hi, thanks for the demo. I was wondering if dipping in the different paint colors in the bead container without rinsing the brush gets the paint muddy after a while.

Hi Mary... It's not a big problem really. I probably wipe my brush subconsciously more than I realize, at least to get most of the paint off that's on the brush. Even if it gets a little contaminated, first, I've never had it be to the point that it affects the color mixtures much. Other than if I'm mixing a very light value color, then of course I am sure to have a clean brush. I think that having some paint on your brush when you're dipping into the color pots isn't a bad idea because you're integrating a common theme by having some gray in them all. To sum up, if it's obvious that that a brush being dipped into the pot will contaminate it, wipe the brush well.

Thanks for the demo. I, too, have started using acrylics again after many years in oil. This was a helpful refresher on the differences between the two and how to use (and enjoy) acrylic for what it is.

I'm thrilled that the video was helpful. Thank you for purchasing it. I think you just made a great statement... "acrylic for what it is.". That's really the key. All mediums have their own specific properties that make them what they are. Realizing that, and being exposed to many of them, will greatly enhance your repertoire and versatility. And I believe that is a very good thing.

Hi Roy... Yes, sort of. I am keeping this open but since last December closed it as a paid subscription and made all of the content open to anyone who wants to view it. I couldn't keep up with what I felt was an obligation to "paid" subscribers to provide frequent enough content and feel good about charging. I decided then that I needed to find a way to generate content and after some time have found that making tutorial videos was my best bet. I am able to spend a day or two doing that, publish them and then get back to other studio work. I came up with this idea that for anyone who wants to comment on a video I publish, the Substack forum might be a good place to do that instead of asking questions about them in private emails where no one but that person and me have the conversation. That doesn't help others, I hope that this will.
