Very useful comments on clouds here, Marc, especially re color shifts and the color white. And thanks for mentioning both Walter Anderson and Louis Agassiz Fuertes book (just purchased the latter). I never got to see the Anderson museum when I was in the south but I read every book I could get my hands on back then. Incredible artist! I’m loving these demos!
I used to use it a lot. But I stopped when I developed migraines to solvents and also, I believe, Liquin. I LOVED it... but switched to using Gamblin Neo Megilp, which does not affect me. Liquin also seemed to cause some eye sensitivity, burning and itching. I use some Galkyd, but in small quantities.
Really love the videos like this one where you share more about the underlying concepts that you are demonstrating in your painting. Your explanation on how to handle white in clouds and how you use negative painting to carve the clouds only after establishing your values in the clouds were very helpful to me. As a pastel painter interested in trying oils and or acrylics., I always appreciate your tips on materials too.

What medium do you use for oils?
Melissa I use both Gamblin Neo Megilp and Galkyd lite.
Thank you! Do you ever use Liquin?

Great discussion about clouds and what to look for in today’s video. Thanks for the link to the gloves you use as well.
