Thanks Rick! I’m getting tired of ‘flash-by-agram”! Seems something like this is a step back to the world of more content with meaning. Who doesn’t love talking shop? Appreciate your comments.
The fact that you are willing to open up the "studio of your mind" is very gracious. Content like that offered by Scott Conary and Ian Roberts, is so valuable because it is founded on principles and demonstrated through the professional experience of these painters. The significance of drawing to the painting process is key, a skill for which there is no shortcut and therefore avoided by many of the students I have had. That you are painting in acrylics, and the techniques for doing so successfully, is also not a focus--perhaps with that medium, and skilled guidance for how to use it, more want-to-be artists would enter the field at a higher level, with the confidence that the options to rework initial designs and compositions are present with acrylics. You have so much to offer because you have it all--I would definitely be interested to see what you could bring as both an artist and teacher.
I would say no longer than 5 minutes on the videos. Well at least to start. I would like to see painting techniques. What is your approach? Do you use glazes and underpainting? Do you draw before painting? I do not think so. What portion is outdoors and what portion is in studio? Do you have terribly off days? ( I do! Haaaa).
It would be nice to hear your thought process while you're working - what concepts you're juggling. Eg: focal point vs. Color, maintaining your original idea, etc. It's so easy to lose our original concept and go down some shiny rabbit hole.
I love watching both types of videos. I learn from your studio practices and from watching you paint. I love explanations of techniques and watching how you apply those techniques while painting plein air or in a studio painting. Perhaps you will consider doing both?
the videos could be over 5minutes but not more than 10-15.. thanks for asking
That's where I am leaning. Not too short, not too long... The Goldilocks Principle. :-)
Painting on location either oil or gouache in sketchbook would be great!!
Good idea! Thanks Jennifer.
Hi Marc,
So excite that you are doing this.
I tend to like videos showing process. And, am interested in oil, pastel and gouache for plein air.
Thanks!
Love it all.. I’m a art tutorial junky.. I look forward to seeing your work
I’m thankful to get any bit of wisdom from you, Marc! 👏🏽👏🏽
No preference. Whatever you decide to do will be of interest. I say keep it varied. Enjoy hearing about your creative pursuits.
Great idea, Marc--gracious and generous, too.
