A sensible change in your subscription program. Thanks for the reference to Harvey Dunn. Wish I’d known about him in September 1967 when my husband and I did stop at Wall Drug on our way to the Grand Tetons for our honeymoon! I only rarely make it back to our edge of the prairie on the ND border. I learn a lot from your videos and also appreciate very much your book discussions.
My god! Your story about ancestors in North Dakota remind me about how new my family is to the United States at least on my maternal side. They arrived around 1900 fleeing the Russian army which was roaming the countryside killing Jewish people as well as others. How they survived with no money and barely speaking English is a complete mystery. Only three generations removed from me.
I just want to say I enjoy reading about your explorations in paint. Your willingness to explore different media and substrates, and articulate your findings is admirable.
It looks to me like you apply gesso with a random method that makes interesting patterns that may or may not have a relationship to the paint on top? Are you applying the gesso with rags? brushes? I really like the look.
Will you be doing any videos on painting larger works? The videos are fascinating and I'd love to see how you attack a larger canvas.
I almost feel that the $5 subscription fee is like cheating or stealing. I mean, for all the time and effort you are putting forth to produce these demo videos, and all the professional information you are providing us, I think we are getting MUCH More than we are paying for. Happy to be a subscriber!!
You’ve been extremely generous sharing knowledge and experience from many years of painting with ALL of the subscribers. Agree with Gwen that this was a sensible change.
Well, this proves you are human after all! I honestly have never understood how you have time to do it all. It’s all I can do to post on Instagram occasionally and still paint and carry on a semi-normal life. I certainly wish I had your drive or energy, or whatever it is. But sadly I do not. Anyway, you are forgiven sir. And thank you for so many great ideas and revelations you have shared. You are truly a treasure to so many of us. We can never repay you.
Good decision about the subscription, Marc. I also have Dunn’s in my family lineage, but mine hailed from New Bern, NC. I don’t know how far back the name goes, but my grandfather (also born in 1900) had a sister named Lucy Dunn, and that’s also my mother’s name. (It’s a double name, like Mary Ann or Betty Sue.) Love the videos and am so glad to have reconnected with you like this. Many thanks.
can stop at Wall. I have Harvey Dunns book, and two prints, School house. Over our bed and prairie flowers. Been to the Museum too. Love his work, I'm from ND so it applies.
I appreciate your book recommendations as much as anything!!
Hi Pat. A few people have had this issue. I checked and this email is the one listed. They usually find that the newsletters have gone into their spam folder. Check that and this link for help. I am not in control of how this works. Substack program is. If you’re getting one, you can also go back to my site and catch up on the ones you e missed. They’re all there for paid subscribers for ever. https://support.substack.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037463672-A-subscriber-told-me-they-aren-t-getting-my-emails-What-should-I-do-

I am a paid subscriber and have gotten so much out of your painting demo's. The paid subscription has been well worth it already! Thanks

Thank you Marc for producing the monthly videos of which are very helpful and fun to watch. Keep them coming. Mark
Understand the time issues and enjoy your videos very much.
Please cancel this paid subscription. I do not know why or how I got there.

Hi Germaine. If you have a paid subscription then you had to personally sign up, give your credit card information and agree to whatever terms were shown. I do not and have never signed anyone up for a paid subscription. To cancel follow this link… https://support.substack.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037489252-How-do-I-cancel-my-paid-subscription-#:~:text=Under%20Subscriptions%2C%20click%20on%20the,paid%20subscription%2C%20click%20here%22.
I am a paid subscriber. I received the first demo and none since, only the unpaid newsletter. Demos should be sent to patzg2944@gmail.com

Thanks, Marc. I don't know that they've "fixed" my emailproblem, but I have gotten back into Substack and see the demos available there.
